Sukanta Das

Sukanta Das, born in Kolkata, West Bengal completed his Bachelor of Visual Arts from Rabindra Bharati University. He has received a National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. He has done several solo shows in India and abroad. Jehangir Art Gallery sponsored by Art Land Gallery, Dhoomimal City Gallery, Delhi, Lalit Kala Academy, Delhi, Alternative Art Gallery, Gurgaon, Alankritha Art Gallery, Hyderabad, Renaissance Gallery, Pune, Masters Collection Art Gallery, Kolkata to name a few. He has done several three men shows and a number of important groups shows and Arts Camp in India and abroad. Several corporate and private collectors have collected his paintings.
His artworks are primarily figurative. Human bodies come up in dreamy molds. The eternal feminine form is one of the most cherished and recurrent themes for him with the backdrop of nature; the supple, exotic foliage’s and intricate ornamentations. The blissful co-existence of humans and nature underlines the story of love and reflects their inner soul and desire.
