Inner Worlds: Beyond the Seen
A Curated Online Exhibition by Image Art Gallery
Inner Worlds: Beyond the Seen is an online exhibition presented by Image Art Gallery that explores the experiences we carry within us. While a painting may first draw us in through colour, form or composition, its lasting impact often lies beyond what is immediately visible—in the memories it recalls, the places it evokes, the relationships it reflects, and the emotions it quietly stirs.
Bringing together five contemporary Indian artists, the exhibition reveals how distinct artistic practices can arrive at a shared way of seeing. Though each artist works with different subjects, techniques and visual languages, their paintings invite us to look beyond appearances and engage with what unfolds through closer observation and personal reflection.
Across the exhibition, five ideas gradually emerge—memory, place, human connection, rhythm and stillness. Rather than acting as fixed themes, they become different ways of experiencing the works, allowing each viewer to form their own connections and interpretations.
Inner Worlds: Beyond the Seen is an invitation to spend time with art, to look a little longer, and to discover that what stays with us is often not just what we see, but what we experience through it.

Siddharth Shingade
Siddharth Shingade recreates Tuljapur, where he grew up, in his artworks as he remembers it – through the prism of his memories, visions and imagination. Imbued with nostalgia, his richly layered acrylics celebrate the resilience of his people. Toy sellers, farmers, gipsies and everyday folk are recurring protagonists in his work, as are mythological beings like Krishna, Govardhan and Buddha. Mythology is seamlessly woven into rustic scenes – the characters in Shingade’s timeless world are part-earthly and part-mythical, and in a state of oneness with the landscape around them. His works are rooted in the vast, drought-prone region of his homeland, Marathwada — an ode to its land, soil, light, people and way of life. Clothed in diaphanous textures and mesmerising gradations of colour, the dusky figures with kohl-rimmed eyes are depicted in the dark tones of the soil that pervades this region. Steeped in mood, emotion and lyricism, his art goes beyond sentimentalism and honours the artistic heritage of the region, the rustic, now-forgotten ways of life, and the endurance of the people from this arid landscape.

A mix of figurative and abstract art, the artist’s works are predominantly completed in earthy hues, mirroring his strong connection with nature. Rahul Dangat
Rahul Dangat is a visual artist, who earned his G.D Art Painting from Bharti Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune, and BFA Painting from M.M.K College of Visual Art, Gulbarga. Rahul spent most of his childhood and adolescence on the farms. The rustic and earthy colours filled his life in the early years and now adorn his canvas. As an artist, he sees art in every visible element around him. When he paints, he tries to depict the commonest of the common objects in the most extraordinary form. This he does with the aid of his brush, the strokes of which create a web of colour that is not complex but is rich with details. After all, detailed artwork is never short of brilliance. Lines are an important part of Rahul’s paintings which also create the signature texture and effect in his paintings. A combination of warm and cool hues along with the intersecting vertical and horizontal lines brings a balance to his painting. His paintings bring the mild fragrance of soil from the countryside and have the soothing effect of first rains on the mind. He started his career in the late 90s and over the years, he has earned awards and has exhibited his work in many solo and group shows.

Vivek Kumavat
Contemporary Indian artist Vivek Kumavat’s original paintings honour the bull’s majestic spirit and cultural significance through Nandi, the sacred bull calf and gatekeeper of Lord Shiva. Raised in a small town surrounded by domesticated animals, he has always been drawn to the bull for its strength, gentleness and special importance not only in Indian mythology but in popular Zodiac astrology. The bull, as both a holy figure and a practical worker, radiates positivity and health.
In all art by Vivek Kumavat, one or multiple Nandis are the central focus of the canvas, tossing their noble heads and joyfully prancing. Their muscular bodies and lively spirits emphasize their physical and mental endurance. As their gestures reflect human expressions, the artist hopes that his Nandis will encourage people to develop their own inner perseverance and contentment.
In his cheerful palette of red, orange, gold, yellow and blue, Vivek Kumavat also incorporates Pattachitra, a traditional form of scroll-painting that originated in the eastern states of Orissa and West Bengal. Pattachitra involves precise detail work to illustrate mythological narratives and folktales. On the skin of the Nandis, he uses a fine brush to tell intricate stories of Shiva, including his marriage ceremony with Parvati, the creation of Ganesh and his essential relationship with Nandi. Prayer at Shiva’s temple is incomplete without reverence to Nandi, and it is said that Nandi will listen to people’s wishes and communicate them to the Lord.
Vivek Kumavat received his BFA from the Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai. He has exhibited throughout India as well as in Dubai, London and Singapore.
Vivek Kumavat welcomes requests for commissioned paintings. If you like a painting that has sold, or if you have a particular space in mind, a custom painting can be made to your taste and specifications regarding size, colour palette and other details.
