Ganesh Pokharkar

Ganesh Pokharkar, born in 1987, is from Pune. His mental viewfinder has been imprinted with sprawling landscapes of cities. Initially, it was the city of Pune, but when no one considers it in today’s globalized world, this could be a ‘cityscape’ of any place in this country or abroad. Ganesh tries to let these sprawling buildings, high rises, skyscrapers, and other edifices which constitute the city act as his muse. He has a BFA from Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Fine Art, Pune and he reiterates the fact that he encountered his first trigger for his work on one of his open-air painting excursions to Katraj ghats as a student. The absolute obscurity of the city when seen from a height of a mountain top, made the artist realize many things about his work subject. He has also participated in many group shows and won several awards for his talent.
