Kandi Narsimlu

Kandi Narsimlu

Kandi Narsimlu has kept a very grounded approach to his art, using the folk and rural themes with a contemporary touch, drawing attention to the delicate expressions, clothing, jewelry, and lifestyle of his subjects. His paintings were influenced by the minimalist lines and spare style, typical of animation too. The geometric style which often appears in his work is a reflection of that part of his career, during his initial days. His work exemplifies a group of women and sometimes men immersed in their routine work and leisure activities. As far as the colors he uses in his paintings are concerned, the villagers worship many local gods and each god has different colored skin. He doesn’t deliberately mix colors or uses too much texturing, because he thinks the simplicity reflects the kind of people his subjects are.
